✨ The Science of Matte: A Glaze, Not a Coating
Many matte bathroom products rely on surface coatings that degrade over time, becoming harder to clean and losing their finish. TOTO is different. The RW Matte White features a specialised CEFIONTECT fired glaze — matte in character, but identical in construction to the standard glaze.
This process fuses the matte texture directly into the ceramic at extremely high temperatures. The result is a surface that diffuses light for that sophisticated soft look, yet remains non-porous and hydrophilic — preventing waste from adhering just as effectively as high-gloss ceramic. The finish does not degrade, cannot be worn away, and requires no special care products.

The Ceramic: TOTO RP (CW542ERY#MW) — Engineered for WASHLET
The RP is not a standard toilet bowl with connection holes drilled in. It is engineered from the ground up as the correct ceramic partner for TOTO’s bidet seats. Three technologies work together to keep it clean between uses:
- CEFIONTECT Matte Glaze: The same ultra-smooth fired ceramic surface as the standard RP, but with a matte light-diffusing finish. Non-porous, hydrophilic, and fused into the ceramic during firing — it cannot wear off and requires no special maintenance.
- Rimless Design: No inner rim means no hidden surface for bacteria, mould, or limescale to accumulate. Every part of the bowl is accessible and visible.
- TORNADO FLUSH: Water enters as a powerful vortex covering the entire bowl in a single 4.5-litre flush — quieter and more thorough than conventional downward-jet systems, with virtually zero aerosol spray.
Hidden water and electrical connections route internally through the pan — no exposed hoses, no trailing cables. Included FlexCover caps seal the connection ports if using the bowl before the WASHLET seat is fitted.

No. Despite being matte, the ceramic uses TOTO’s CEFIONTECT fired glaze — a non-porous, hydrophilic surface fused into the ceramic at firing temperature, not a surface coating. Combined with PREMIST before use and EWATER+ after each flush, waste has very little opportunity to adhere. The matte finish does not require specialist cleaning products and does not degrade over time.
EWATER+ is electrolysed tap water produced inside the WASHLET. It has enhanced antibacterial properties that break down bacteria on the wand jet and ceramic bowl after every use — keeping the toilet hygienic without any chemical cleaners. It safely reverts to ordinary water once it reaches the drainage system.
Yes, the TOTO RW fits standard industry wall frames with 180mm fixing centres (such as Geberit or TECE). However, for full functionality — specifically if you want the Auto-Flush feature — we strongly recommend the TOTO Frame System WH182EAT and the matching connection set, as these are engineered to work with the RW’s flush sensor.
Yes. The RW features a proximity sensor that raises the lid automatically as you approach and closes it gently after you walk away. This provides a completely touch-free, hygienic experience from start to finish.
Instant heating. The RW uses an inline ceramic heater that warms water on demand as it flows through — there is no reservoir being kept permanently hot. This eliminates limescale build-up associated with tank heaters and reduces standby energy consumption significantly.
Yes. The WASHLET RW holds WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) Approval Number 2005342, confirming compliance with UK Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations. All TOTO WASHLET models sold in the UK are WRAS certified before they can be connected to the UK water supply.
