Duravit SensoWash® · Genuine Replacement Shower Toilet Seat
Duravit SensoWash® Classic
Shower Toilet Seat for ME by Starck · Starck 2 · Starck 3 · Bento · Darling New
The Duravit SensoWash® Classic is a genuine Duravit shower toilet seat, engineered to fit precisely onto five of Duravit’s most established WC pan collections: ME by Starck, Starck 2, Starck 3, Bento, and Darling New. It converts any compatible pan into a complete shower toilet — rear wash, lady wash, seat heating, warm air drying, and app control — without requiring a new ceramic.
Every wash function runs from a continuously adjustable, extendable spray arm and an instantaneous water heater, so warm water is available immediately rather than after a wait. The nozzle rinses itself automatically before and after every use, and can also be released for manual cleaning — the combination Duravit designs its hygiene reputation around.
Control runs through three layers: the seat’s own control panel, the supplied remote handset for day-to-day functions, and the SensoWash app for deeper personalisation across up to four saved user profiles. Designed by Philippe Starck, finished in white thermoplastic with a soft-close hinge.
One genuine seat, five of Duravit’s most established WC collections
The SensoWash® Classic exists for a specific and valuable reason: it lets a household with an existing ME by Starck, Starck 2, Starck 3, Bento, or Darling New pan gain full shower toilet functionality without replacing the ceramic. That matters for two very different buyers — the renovator upgrading a bathroom that already has the right pan installed, and the owner of an ageing SensoWash seat who needs a genuine, correctly matched replacement rather than a generic universal seat that fits poorly and voids Duravit’s own guidance.
Because it is a genuine Duravit part designed specifically for these five collections, the seat aligns precisely with each pan’s rimless geometry and concealed connection points — the fit, the hinge position, and the spray trajectory are all engineered together rather than approximated.

Technology & Features in Detail
The SensoWash® Classic delivers two dedicated wash modes — Rearwash and Ladywash — through a single extendable shower arm with a continuously positionable oscillating spray, moving forward and backward across the intimate area rather than washing from one fixed point.
Spray strength and water temperature are each continuously adjustable, with the water heated instantly by an internal instantaneous water heater rather than drawn from a stored tank — so warm water is available on demand, at a consistent temperature, adjustable across the 32–40°C range from the remote, control panel, or app.
Both Rearwash and Ladywash stop automatically after two minutes if not ended manually, and the shower functions only activate when the integrated seat sensor detects a user is seated — a safeguard against accidental operation.
Before and after every wash cycle, the spray nozzle is automatically rinsed with fresh water — a self-cleaning step that runs without any action from the user and keeps the nozzle sanitary between uses.
Beyond the automatic cycle, the spray nozzle can be released and removed by hand for a more thorough manual clean, and the seat additionally offers a dedicated manual cleaning mode that safely extends the spray wand outside of normal use for direct wiping — useful for periodic deep cleaning as part of routine bathroom maintenance.
Built-in descaling: the seat includes an integrated descaling function that treats the internal water pathway using genuine Duravit descaling agent, protecting wash performance over the long term. See the descaling schedule below.
A warm air dryer with four adjustable levels — off, low, medium, and high — completes the wash cycle, automatically ending after five minutes if not stopped manually. Temperature and intensity are set from the remote, control panel, or app to suit personal preference.
The seat itself is heated, calibrated to warm quickly without excessive energy draw at just 50W, with an adjustable comfort range. An energy-saving mode can deactivate seat heating for a specified period — useful during working hours — and reactivates automatically, while the seat also switches to energy-saving mode on its own after 48 hours of non-use.
- Warm air dryer: four levels, adjustable temperature, 5-minute auto-stop
- Seat heating: fast warm-up, 50W low-power draw, adjustable comfort level
- Energy saving mode: deactivates heating on a schedule, or automatically after 48h idle
- Holiday mode: recommended if the seat will be unused for two weeks or more
A proximity sensor opens and closes the cover automatically as a user approaches or moves away — no contact with the lid required at any point in normal use. The same function is also available manually, from the remote control or the app, for full flexibility.
This touch-free operation extends the seat’s broader hygiene design: between the auto-lid, the seated-user requirement for activating wash functions, and the self-rinsing nozzle, the number of surfaces a user needs to physically touch during ordinary use is minimised throughout.
The seat is operated through three layers of control. The control panel on the seat unit itself provides direct access without any accessory to hand. The remote control handles the core day-to-day functions — Rearwash, Ladywash, seat heating, dryer, spray position, intensity, and temperature. The SensoWash app (iOS and Android, connected via Bluetooth) extends this further, unlocking advanced settings, energy-saving scheduling, and device diagnostics.
Up to four individual user profiles can be saved — each storing its own spray position, intensity, and temperature preferences — and recalled instantly by selecting the relevant profile button, removing the need to re-adjust settings each time a different household member uses the seat.
A night light softly illuminates the interior of the bowl in white, with off, on, and automatic settings — useful after dark without requiring the bathroom’s main light.
Every shower toilet is, mechanically, a device that heats and sprays water — and every one is therefore exposed to limescale build-up over time, particularly in harder water regions. The SensoWash® Classic includes a built-in descaling function, activated via the app or the remote, that treats the internal water pathway using genuine Duravit descaling agent.
The seat’s power button signals when descaling is due — flashing orange on the seat unit, with a corresponding alert in the app — removing any guesswork about timing. The recommended frequency is set by local water hardness; see the table below.
Duravit’s own recommendation: for water hardness of 14°dH (2.5 mmol/l) or above, Duravit recommends installing a water softener ahead of the seat to protect long-term performance.
Descaling Schedule — By Water Hardness
Duravit publishes a specific descaling interval for the SensoWash® Classic based on local mains water hardness. Much of the UK — particularly London, the South East and East Anglia — falls into the hard water band, where the more frequent quarterly cycle applies.
| Water Hardness | Recommended Descaling Cycle |
|---|---|
| Soft below 8.4° dH (1.5 mmol/l) |
Every six months |
| Medium 8.4–14° dH (1.5–2.5 mmol/l) |
Every six months |
| Hard above 14° dH (2.5 mmol/l) |
Quarterly |
Only use original Duravit descaling agent. The descaling cycle can be started from the app or the remote control; the seat cannot be used while descaling is in progress. If you’re unsure of your local water hardness, your water supplier publishes it by postcode, or contact us and we can advise.

Installation & Electrical Safety — What to Know Before You Fit It
The SensoWash® Classic is an electrical, water-carrying product and must be installed correctly. These notes summarise the key requirements from Duravit’s own installation and safety documentation; always follow the full instructions supplied with the product.
- Earthing is mandatory: the product must be properly earthed and must never be operated without correct grounding.
- No built-in leakage protection: the seat itself does not include electrical leakage (RCD) protection — it must be installed on a power circuit that has its own leakage protection device fitted upstream.
- Fixed wiring disconnection: a means of disconnection with full contact separation across all poles, rated for overvoltage category III, must be incorporated into the fixed wiring in accordance with wiring regulations.
- Direct connection, no plug: this item uses a hardwired direct connection rather than a plug socket — wiring should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
- Water supply: connect to cold mains drinking water only. Do not connect greywater, industrial water, seawater, or other untreated or semi-treated supplies. Use only the water supply hoses provided; do not reuse old hoses from a previous seat.
- Power cable care: if the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, an authorised service agent, or a similarly qualified person — never repaired on site.
Frequently Asked Questions
Item 613000012004300 is a genuine Duravit SensoWash® Classic seat engineered specifically for five Duravit collections: ME by Starck, Starck 2, Starck 3, Bento, and Darling New. It is matched to the rimless geometry, hinge position, and connection points of these pans specifically — it is not a universal seat, and should not be fitted to other WC pan ranges.
If your existing seat is a SensoWash® Classic fitted to one of the five compatible collections above, this is very likely the correct genuine replacement. There are two width variants — this item (365mm width) and a 375mm-width version (613200012004300) for a wider pan configuration. Check your current seat’s width, or send us your WC pan model and we’ll confirm before you order.
No. The seat connects to a cold water supply only and heats the wash water instantly on demand via its internal instantaneous heater. There is no dependency on a household hot water system, cylinder, or combi boiler.
The seat stores up to four individual user profiles, each saving its preferred spray position, water spray intensity, and water temperature. Selecting a profile button instantly applies that person’s saved preferences, which is particularly useful in a household of two or more regular users.
The remote control covers the core day-to-day functions: Rearwash, Ladywash, seat heating, warm air dryer, spray position, intensity, and temperature. The SensoWash app, connected via Bluetooth, adds advanced settings such as energy-saving scheduling, holiday mode, descaling activation, and device diagnostics. Neither is strictly required to operate the seat — the built-in control panel on the unit itself also provides direct access to core functions.
The interval depends on local water hardness: every six months for soft to medium water (below 14° dH), or quarterly for hard water (above 14° dH) — which covers much of the South East of England. Only genuine Duravit descaling agent should be used. The seat itself will signal when descaling is due via a flashing orange indicator and an app alert, so there’s no need to track the schedule manually.
This is a direct (hardwired) connection product, not a plug-in appliance, and it must be earthed and installed on a power circuit fitted with its own leakage (RCD) protection, since the seat does not include this protection internally. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with the supplied instructions and current wiring regulations.
Yes. A proximity sensor opens and closes the cover as a user approaches or steps away, with no need to touch the lid. The same action is also available manually via the remote control or the app, so automatic operation can be used, supplemented, or bypassed as preferred.
No — the night light, which softly illuminates the interior of the bowl in white, has three settings: off, on, and automatic. In automatic mode it activates in low ambient light, which is the factory default setting.
